Following three years of negotiations and six months of technical preparations, the mega-production of this version of Magic of Light exhibition especially addressed to Chinese audiences was officially inaugurated on Jan 25th, 2019. With content and design developed and adapted for Chinese Science Parks by the Optics Museum of ITMO University and the Hellenic Institute of Holography, it required a joint team of 20 people from Russia, Greece and China during two weeks for its installation. But, as all visitors during the Show and officlals present at the opening ceremony unhesitantly asserted, the final result excelled everybody's expectations.
The exhibition occupied almost in its entirety the special area of the museum dedicated for temporary exhibitions, a total area of approx. 1,000 sqm. This consisted of the main hall (800 sqm) and three adjacent large rooms (200 sqm) in addition to surrounding auxiliary space (entrance, exit, retail outlet, corridors). READ MORE
The organizers, Shanghai Science & Technology Museum (SSTM), one of the biggest museums of its kind worldwide and one of the most visited among museums of all types in China, were pleased to receive a number of distinguished guests during the opening ceremony: Consuls of Russian Federation and of Greece, Rector of ITMO University and Director of the World of Science organization from St. Petersburg paid their respect to the hosting organizations represented by Directors Prof. X.Wang (SSTM) and Vice-Chairperson Ms. L.Wang of the Shanghai Science Education Development Foundation (SSEDF).
An impressive entrance arcade was created by design bureau 'A-Screen' in St. Petersburg who also undertook the origination of the main graphic design elements with a Chinese flair.
