Building on the success of the St. Petersburg exhibition during the second half of 2015, MAGIC of LIGHT moved on to Moscow for the first part of 2016. The selection of venue was exquisite: The Saltykov-Chertkovs Mansion, a historical residence with an intriguing history, appearance and comfortable accessibility at the very sophisticated modern center of the vast Russian capital. A building associated with mysteries, secret passage to Kremlin, hiding places, historical crimes, lost treasures and a war refuge could only leave an imprint to visitors' impressions. In spite of its large area size (900 sqm extending over three floors) and the very large number of exhibits (more than 200 'labels' grouped in 9 notional modules), the exhibition was installed in practically less than one week thanks to the efforts of the joint teams from Russia and Greece. This was even more of an achievement given the extremely tight preparation time and need for non-stop concerted improvisation from the part of its curators on account of limited degrees of allowable intervention with the building interior.
External content on stereoscopy, 3D-viewing technologies and digital content was contributed and operated by students of the collaborating HSE University. Equally, students from both ITMO University and HSE volunteered for daily maintenance of the exhibits but, more importantly, for group guided tours through the exhibition levels, a popular practice for Russian audience. For more independent visitors, audio speakers installed at strategic points introduced and guided them around each hall (narration by Prof. S.Stafeev). READ MORE...
